The Maasai Food Festival – OLODAKITE LE MAA FOOD FEST

Date: Saturday, 7 December 2024 Venue: Osirua Gardens, along Narok-Bomet Highway

Join us for the “OLODAKITE LE MAA FOOD FEST” at Osirua Gardens, a unique event that celebrates the rich, vibrant culture of the Maasai community through its traditional cuisine. ILEPA Kenya offers a window into Traditional knowledge and cultural expressions.

Experience Maasai staples. They involve milk, meat, and various vegetables and grains. The meat is organic. The livestock depend on rain-fed natural grass. They sometimes get licks from natural salt licks Olare spread across the incredible Maasai landscapes, including Olare Orok and Oldonyio Orasha.

At Kubwa and Company Advocates, we are proud to support and attend this cultural celebration. We recognise this in our Intellectual Property and climate change insights.

We also highlight how Maasai practices contribute to climate change resilience and food sustainability. The Maasai have, historically, used native species and embraced sustainable grazing. This has kept an ecological balance. This event will explore these practices and agriculture.

Meat sun drying provides a green energy source for food preservation. You will taste Munono, a mixture of fat-fried meat with blood. Olpurda, dried meat that’s fried and immersed in fat, is for long-term storage. For milk treats, you will find fermented milk, kule naaoto and fresh milk- kule naairowua.

You will also enjoy Maasai music, dance, and storytelling, immersing you in the community’s culture.

Through some contacts, you can be sure of exploring genuine Maasai crafts and keeping some for a price. This interactive aspect of the festival allows you to take a piece of Maasai culture home, further connecting you to the community.

Your presence and support are invaluable. Please share your thoughts on cultural preservation. You can also learn how we at Kubwa and Company Advocates can help protect cultural heritage through legal means.

Don’t miss this chance to enjoy Maasai culture’s flavours.
